The Observer and the Observed

Remember that you can think better thoughts. The primary impediment preventing you from accessing them is the narratives you decide to buy into.

Observation of thought is not identification with thought. Or do you identify with your worst desires and ugliest judgments?

Soon graduate to the observation of all manifestations within the space of awareness.

You are not merely your body, for while experience might covary with the brain, a complete account of neural activity still doesn’t contain the felt redness of red.

You will never dissect matter enough (neither gray, nor white, nor of any form) to find the qualities contained within experience.

You are not your thoughts, for thoughts arise spontaneously, from a seeming void, in the absence of your permission. They are here one moment and gone the next, but we can rest as a passive witness; rescuing ourselves from most perturbations with proper training, even as our organism generates them.

You are not even your “self.” Stop holding onto the stories and let your self dissolve into the everything of now.

Come back! Return to the world of forms, a less clouded ego for your upcoming face-to-face with its people.
