Our Common Core

We’re lying in bed, reflecting on the past two years and looking forward to the road ahead—filled with excitement to begin another chapter of this remarkable journey tomorrow. The walk has been so revealing and changed us both so much. We have been shown love, and we have fallen in love with people. We believe in people. We believe in love. We believe that people share a common core, and if we embrace that, we can find love for anyone. We believe that at their core, people want to see less suffering and a more loving, kind-hearted world. At their core, people want to be loved and give love. At their core, people value selflessness among the highest virtues; people want to be selfless, and we all struggle to do so. When you strip away our layers, we are all children deep down—children searching for friends and family, children looking for acceptance, children who want to play but swim in a sea of information too deep and too large for any one of us to reach the bottom of it all. So let us swim together. Only by coming together can we navigate the expanse. We can keep each other afloat. We can keep each other warm.
