Our Facebook page holds so much appreciation for Torin, but what you see doesn’t even scratch the surface of the beautiful human that he is.
I’ve never met someone so dedicated to their moral compass, so grounded in their virtues. I’ve never known someone so willing to spend their whole life working against their lesser habits, someone who came from a dark place of hating people and chose to pursue a life learning how to empathize with every kind of person instead.
He constantly challenges himself to share new ideas in an effort to make the world a better place. He does it knowing those ideas will be met with every kind of reaction, anger, defensiveness, hurt, and misunderstanding, yet he shares them anyway if he believes they matter. Some of the most pressing and challenging things we post get perceived as him speaking from a high horse, but I know the truth behind them. So much of what he writes is born from his own struggles. He writes to himself first, then finds a way to share it so it might reach the heart of someone else.
Torin carries both a soft heart and a sharper edge, rooted in a kind of tough love. My favorite quality about him, and maybe his most misunderstood, is how grounded he is in sharing hard truths for the sake of his relationships and their growth.
We’ve lost people in our lives because of these values and our unwillingness to settle. But I truly believe that in the long run, it will bring the most appreciative and accountable people into our lives. That drive has challenged me, but it has transformed me. Because this quality has pushed me to grow more than a purely coddling relationship ever could.
Torin lives with more intentionality than anyone I’ve ever known. I can only hope that his goodness continues to rub off on me, and that I grow to be more like him in this way over time. He’s here to do as much good as he can and to experience life as fully as possible. I know, following him as my husband, that he will never allow us to settle for a life lacking fulfillment, purpose, or impact.
I’ve never met someone so capable of meeting people where they are, so able to diffuse anger, prejudice, and misunderstanding. When I don’t know what to say in a tense moment with a stranger or new friend, I trust that he will know how to guide us through it.
It’s incredible to witness the writing that comes through him. As beautiful as it is, he rarely takes credit for it, saying that when he dissolves his ego, the right words come through from a purer place.
I couldn’t ask for, or even design, a more perfect partner. Thank you for being ten times the man I ever hoped I could find in this world. I’m twice the woman I was when I met you because of you. To be the strength, support, and rock that you deserve, I know I still have a mountain to climb.
I’m here to follow you forever. Thank you for leading us through this beautiful life.
