Who Can You Love?
Who can you love?
You can love them all!
Big, short, and tall!
What about prissy and proper,
Or those telling whoppers?
What about tats and dyed hair,
Or vagrants without a care?
Can you love those from the left?
AND those from the right?
Talk politics WITHOUT the fight?
Or are you stunted by judgment,
Stories of good and of bad?
When you look out at difference,
Does it still make you mad?
But THOSE do THIS!
And THESE do THAT!
Stop talking, start listening,
Yakety yak yak!
In silence you’ll see,
Beyond your contrived morality.
There, truth becomes clear,
We ALL hold something dear.
All reaching for happiness,
All struggling and suffering,
Thinking WE have the way!
Plain as night and as day!
But this won’t solve your problems.
Cling tighter and clasp,
Contentment escapes grasp.
But accept and let go?
Our differences make us whole.
